Dylan has worked in the golf industry for the last 11 years, starting as a backshop attendant at Ladies’ Golf Club of Toronto. He continuously worked hard and earned a leadership role as the backshop manager in 2014. At the start of the 2015 year, he made the decision to join the PGA of Canada. That summer, he played in to earn his status. After graduating from Queen’s University in 2016, he received his Bachelor of Honours in Applied Economics, but knew that he wanted to stay in the golf industry. That summer/season, he started as an Assistant Professional at Ladies’ and led the Backshop to one of the highest service years per a member survey. His ability to keep learning and growing in his professional career saw an opportunity to take on more responsibilities at the club. In 2018, he completed his Class A status and in addition, Ladies’ Golf Club of Toronto won the Retailer of the Year Award for the Ontario Zone and also the National Award. Shortly after, Dylan became the Lead Associate at the club while continuing to take on more responsibilities and proceeding to create memorable experiences for the membership.
In 2020, Mike Johnston (2020 Class A of the Year Award) and Dylan noticed a gap within the Ontario Zone for professionals. Within weeks AoT Networking was founded, which created a platform for professionals to connect and network while also learn from each other. Over the last three seasons, AoT Networking has not only had a positive impact on how professionals have been able to network with each other, but has even led to new job opportunities for some. AoT has conducted over 35 sessions in the last three seasons for either networking or professional development. https://www.pgaofontario.com/more/aot-networking
With an unexpected golf season in 2020, most golf courses suffered with lack of staff and new responsibilities were given to some. With a busy season and an increase in demand for golf, Dylan was fortunate to be a recipient of the “Thanksforsteppingup” Award Presented by Ecco. https://www.pgaofcanada.com/media/thanks-for-stepping-up-dylan-cattanach-17098
In 2021, Dylan started a new role at Rosedale Golf Club as one of the Associate Professionals. Over the last two seasons, he has created new experiences for members and their guests while being leader to all Golf Operational staff. His ability to keep growing the game has led him to be well known for his lessons and teaching tactics.
Dylan continues to support the PGA of Ontario Zone and the team. He is currently on the PGA of Ontario Education Board. His ideas have assisted in some 2023 initiatives.
