Travis Glass
Class "A" Professional at Eagle Valley Golf Club
2022 PGA of Ontario Junior Leader of the Year
2022 PGA of Canada Jack McLaughlin Junior Leader of the Year
Growing up around a golf course, I was always drawn to the industry. In 2010, I attended university in Port Saint Lucie, Florida, to pursue becoming a professional. In 2013, I became a member of the PGA of Canada and, in 2019, a Class “A” member.
1. What did it mean for you to be the recipient of the PGA of Ontario Junior Leader of the Year award this past season?
When I started my career, my goal was to grow the game of golf, giving young players the opportunity to play, and to become the role model I wish I had in my life when I was a junior. It is very special to me to have been recognized nationally by my association and my peers as someone who excels in this field.
2. What are you working on this season?
The 2023 season will be the most important year to date. At the beginning of this year, we designed and built a state-of-the-art indoor training facility at Eagle Valley to grow our off-season and academy programs to better serve players year-round. Looking ahead to the upcoming golf season, I have organized and will be operating 12 single-day junior tournaments, as well as hosting a two-day international championship, with 290 players. This will likely be the biggest junior event in Canada. Professionally, I am focused on completing my teaching specialization through the PGA of Canada’s Training Academy and continuing other professional development opportunities.
3. What do you hope to accomplish long-term in the golf industry?
My long-term goals are to continue growing our academy programs and further developing as a professional. I recently signed up to join the mentorship program through the PGA to help assistant professionals develop their careers. My newest venture is to build an online coaching platform to broaden my reach beyond local, in-person students. I also hope to one day have the opportunity to coach a collegiate golf program.
