George Cumming Sr.

George Cumming Sr.

Born: May 20th, 1879 in Bridge of Weir, Scotland.

Known as the “Dean of Canadian Professional Golfers,” George Cumming was a founding member of the PGA of Canada. He also served as the Association’s first Captain from 1911-1913 and again from 1931-1932.

He was a winner of the 1905 Canadian Open and the 1914 PGA Championship of Canada. Cumming also finished runner-up at the Canadian Open four times and three-times at the PGA Championship of Canada. He was inducted into the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame in 1971.
