2024 Head Pro Assistant Pro Recap

New history was written at Spring Lakes Golf Club on Monday, August 6th, as Ben Reid and Jordan Mahussier from Mill Run Golf Club triumphed over the six-time past champions Michael Moniz and Brad Kerfoot in a thrilling scramble playoff on the 18th hole. The Head Pro/Assistant Pro Team Series presented by LEVELWEAR saw a dramatic conclusion, with Reid and Mahussier securing their first win together after a tense finish.  

The format included Better Ball on holes 1-6, Alternate Shot on holes 7-12, and Scramble on holes 13-18. Moniz and Kerfoot led for most of the day and were one of the first groups to reach the scoring table. They arrived as the leaders at 64, 8-under, patiently waiting to see if any of the teams on the tight leaderboard with a few holes left to play would catch up to them. Ben Reid and Jordan Mahussier, along with Dylan Smallwood and Keaton Jones, were just one stroke behind at -7, and Aaron Brush and Riley Schaus, along with Justin O'Leary and Jacob Peterson, trailed at -6.  

Reid and Mahussier’s round ended on hole 17, a par 4 where they needed a birdie to tie for first. They delivered, setting up a playoff on the 18th hole, a par 5. Reid and Mahussier, who started their round on 18, faced off against Moniz and Kerfoot, who had just completed their round on 18. Mahussier sank a spectacular birdie putt, prompting some loud cheers from the patio, knowing that that could be the winning putt. With the pressure on after Kerfoot’s putt just slipped by, Moniz failed to make his putt, sealing the victory for Reid and Mahussier in the playoff.  

Reid and Mahussier secured the top purse of $2,000 and also received vouchers from our wonderful partners at Maui Jim, for brand new sunglasses!

Reid and Mahussier celebrated their win with their fellow Mill Run Golf Club pros, Matt Savage and Adam Thomas, who definitely gave the loudest cheers from the patio. It was an exhilarating day, and we always thoroughly enjoy watching the Head Pros and Assistant Pros team up on the course!
