On Monday, October 7th, the PGA of Ontario 3-person Fall Scramble unfolded at the scenic Glencairn Golf Club, welcoming 48 teams of eager golfers.
With a brisk 9 AM start, players teed off to face a mix of autumn’s unpredictable weather—shifting from warm sun to sudden rain, with a chilly breeze that kept everyone on their toes.
The Fall Scramble is known not just for its competitive spirit, but for the joy it brings. It's a cherished event where pros reconnect, share stories, and relish the camaraderie that binds them. Familiar faces lit up with smiles as they gathered on the greens, making it a bittersweet farewell to the outdoor season.
After 27 holes of play, two teams emerged at the forefront. Steve Green, Danny King, and Ryan La Rose were neck and neck with Marcus Khaw, Bradlee Ryall, and Doug Lawrie, both teams finishing the round at an impressive 21-under par.
Clearly, 27 holes hadn’t been enough to decide a winner; a playoff was necessary.
As the sun dipped behind clouds and the wind picked up, it was playoff time. On the par-5 Scotch Block hole #9, both teams scored birdies, setting the stage for a thrilling showdown.
It would come down to a closest-to-the-pin challenge from 100 yards out.
Five remarkable shots found their way onto the green, and the tension mounted as Danny King’s ball settled about 10 feet from the pin. All eyes turned to Marcus Khaw, the last to shoot. With precision and calm, he launched his ball onto the green, landing just 5 feet from the hole.
The champions had been determined.
Congratulations to Marcus Khaw, Bradlee Ryall, and Doug Lawrie on their well-earned victory! Their triumph secured them the top purse of $3,000, along with a voucher for stylish new sunglasses courtesy of our awesome partners, Maui Jim.
