Match Play Championship
About the Match Play Championship:
Starting with up to 64 elite professionals, only four make it to the end! The PGA of Ontario Match Play Championship is a season-long match play championship where professionals from across the Ontario Zone compete in a singles elimination format.
Divided into two geographically based regions, the tournament runs from June to September, with players responsible for arranging their matches by pre-set dates and reporting results to the PGA of Ontario staff. The PGA team manages the brackets and results using Golf Genius throughout the season.
As elimination rounds progress, two pros remain from each region, culminating in the final four.

2024 Finals Recap:
On September 26th, 2024, at Magna Golf Club, the final four included Danny King, Ryan Borg, Victor Ciesielski, and Gord Burns.
In the semi-finals, Ciesielski defeated Borg 3&2, while King won against Burns 2&1.
Both the consolation and final matches were tightly contested. Burns edged out Borg 1 up in the consolation final.
The championship match was a thrilling back-and-forth battle between King and Ciesielski.
With King 1 up going into the 17th hole, both players made par. Ciesielski faced a must-win situation on 18 to force a playoff, but after a valiant effort, his birdie putt just narrowly missed. This secured King’s victory in the Match Play Championship!
The day was made even more special as many Magna staff and players eagerly watched around the 18th green in support of the familiar face. Congratulations to Danny King, who proudly claimed the championship title on his home course, in front of special supporters!
This event not only provides a competitive edge but also offers a great opportunity for players to enhance their skills throughout the season. We can’t wait for the 2025 matchups!
