WHITEVALE, ON - Keir Smith and Gordon Burns found their winning form once again on Monday to win their second Pin High PGA of Ontario Assistants' Team Championship and first at Whitevale Golf Club.

Smith, who teaches out of The National Golf Club of Canada and Burns, who teaches out of Golden Ridge Golf Range in Richmond Hill, pounded out 11 birdies to win the two-person scramble by two shots and take home a cheque for $2,000.

"It was a fun way to start the season and when you make 11 birdies with no bogeys you know you're going to be up there," Smith said, noting they last won the spring event in 2010 at Angus Glen GC. "We had a good pairing today with Bill Walsh and John McCann, they're a good team and we knew if we stayed close to them we would be in the mix."

Walsh and McCann, who teach out of Fairtree Golf Center, finished T2 at 9-under with Sean Burke (Ă–viinbyrd GC) and Matthew Dunn of Oak Hills GC, while four teams settled for T4 at 7-under.

"Whether you finish first or 25th this is always a competitive event on a terrific golf course," says Brian McCann, who is hanging on to his No. 1 ranking in the PGA of Canada Order of Merit and looking forward to a better year in 2013. "I had never played Whitevale until the tournament was moved here three years and now I really enjoy it. It's totally underrated with some of the best greens we play all year."
