(Thornhill, Ont., - August 27, 2012) - Margaret Trainor (Dundas Valley Golf & C.C.) claimed victory on the first playoff hole over Linda McFadden-Shephard (Barcovan Golf Club) at the PGA of Ontario Women's Championship today at Ladies Golf Club of Toronto. Trainor, relied on her steady short game while negotiating a very rainy, wet day at Ladies Golf Club of Toronto. Both Trainor and McFadden-Shephard carded a score of 76 and went to the par 3, 16th for a playoff. Trainor made a solid par on the 16th to claim the title.

"I wasn't playing very consistently to start the season, but lately my game as been improving and I felt very good coming into today" said Trainor.

The field had to deal with heavy rain at times, but the sun came out for the final few holes as well as the playoff.

In the team competition, there was no contest as Trainor and McFadden drew each other to combine for a best ball score of 67. Three teams tied for second at a score of 73. Rhonda Fleury (Henry Brunton Golf) and Mary-Pat Quilty (Settler's Ghost Golf Club), Carla Munch-Miranda (Cambridge Golf Club) and Megan Chapman (The Academy at the Georgian Bay Club), Andree Lapierre (The Toronto Hunt) and Host Professional, Lianne Ritchie (Ladies Golf Club of Toronto).
