Former Champion Dave Moro Returns to Form

Former Champion Dave Moro returns to form at

2012 Titleist & FootJoy PGA of Ontario Championship at Barrie Country Club

(Barrie, Ont., July 16, 2012) - Dave Moro, the 2009 PGA Champion showed once again how much he loves Barrie Country Club. He took advantage of the favourable scoring conditions at Barrie Country Club in the first round of the 2012 PGA of Ontario Championship with a solid 4 under 68.

"Not a lot was happening for me early in my round. I managed to play steady, then got on a roll on holes 6 thru 13 making five birdies and had a few other near misses. My game has been really close for some time now and I'm feeling really good over the ball. I've always played well here, Barrie Country Club is a course that just seems to fit my eye.  A big key to my great round today was the group I was paired with. Keir Smith and Brian Groves are great players, we have very similar styles, and I thoroughly enjoyed playing with them" said Moro.

Joshua Growden (Kedron Dells Golf Club) held the early lead with a 3 under 69, and was joined later in the day by Brian Hadley (Thames Valley Golf Club) and local pro Greg Colekessian (The Georgian Bay Club) who went really deep with a 4 under 32 on his back nine.

Other notable scores from today included rounds of 2 under 70 by Michael Jack (Golfzon), Bill Walsh (Fairtree Golf Centre), and Kyler Murphy (Kings Riding Golf Club). Also in the thick of things with 1 under 71 was Ken Tarling (Ken Tarling's Golf Academy), Yong Woo Kim (Wedgewood Golf Centre), Ian Doig (Ian Doig Golf Academy) and Keir Smith (The National Golf Club).

Trevor Marko (Grandview Golf Club) was today's qualifier for the 2012 Golf Supply House PGA of Ontario Long Drive Championship.
