Keir Smith Victorious in Senior Tour Debut

(Bond Head, Ont., May 31, 2012) The first senior event of the year is in the books and what a championship it was! The South Course at The Club at Bond was a very stiff test of golf, and with the cool temperatures and wind that arrived on day two; scoring did not come easy to the 34 player field.

At completion of play it was Keir Smith that caught the day one leader and eventual forth place finisher Fraser McIntyre to capture this year's title. This was also Keir Smith's first event as a senior and he definitely is going to be a competitor to beat.

However the story was the great play of Smith and the potential of a double win in the first senior event of the year, as Smith found himself in a playoff with Brian McCann for the Spring Championship on the regular tour.

"I just focused on playing well and staying in the tournament, aiming for the regular tour victory... if I could win the regular tour event or stay focused on it, the rest would take care of itself", said Smith about the strategy in playing and competing for both titles.

Congratulations to Keir, and thank you to all players for a great event!

I have a feeling this won't be the last time the one of our senior players has the chance to win two titles in one event!
