Ontario PGA Names Kevin Purcell as Executive Director

I am extremely happy to announce Mr. Kevin Purcell as our new Executive Director of the Ontario PGA effective December 1, 2011.

Kevin's passion and experience with the Ontario PGA, and PGA of Canada clearly made him the number one choice for the position. His strong leadership skills, communication and business skills will definitely help him build and lead an effective team and manage an efficient operation.

Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Kevin took up the game of golf as a junior member of Oakfield Golf & Country Club. His love and passion for the game led him to the golf business early in life and he became the Assistant Professional at Oakfield Golf & Country Club in 1990. While working and playing at Oakfield, Kevin attended Saint Mary's University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, taking a Bachelor of Commerce with a major in Business Administration while never losing sight of the desire to make his passion his life.

Kevin moved to Sarnia, Ontario in 1991 to pursue his PGA of Canada apprenticeship where he was an assistant and then associate professional under Peter Boyce and Steve Bennett during his seven years at Sarnia Golf and Curling Club. This is where he truly started to become the professional he is today. Kevin really began to develop his business sense in twelve years as the Director of Golf at Caledon Country Club in Caledon, Ontario, and it was during this time that his passion for the Ontario and Canadian PGA led him to work on various committees and eventually become a Board of Director on both the Ontario and Canadian Boards. Kevin has now spent over eleven years as a board member and is a past President of the Ontario PGA.

Kevin has spent the past two years as the General Manager of Rebel Creek Golf Club in Kitchener, Ontario. Kevin's passion for the Canadian PGA and the golf industry is what led him to pursue the Ontario Executive Director position, and he is extremely excited and looking forward to a long career with the Ontario PGA.

I would like to thank David Main for chairing the committee with the assistance of Heather Howell, Jeremy Broom, and Chris Miranda.

Please join me in welcoming Kevin to the Ontario PGA in his new role.

Best Regards,

Dustin Kerr-Taylor
