Ken Tarling Wins Australian Senior Tour Event

2/28/2011

(Dunedin, NZ - February 28, 2011) - Canadian Ken Tarling has taken out the City of Dunedin Legends Pro-Am in a thrilling final day shootout. Tarling fired rounds of 68, 71 and 69 for five-under total, just one stroke ahead of Paul Dalgleish from Queensland. After Tarling made bogey on the final hole, Dalgleish had his chance to force a play-off with a sliding three metre putt, however the putt shaved the hole settling for second.

New Zealand’s Garth Domigan was well in contention until he made a double bogey on the short 17th hole, but with a monster putt on the last snatched third placing from fellow countryman Peter Fowler who shot the lowest tournament round four-under, 67 that included three birdies on his last four holes.
Victorian David Hill was in outright fifth position, a shot back of Fowler, while David Merriman was a further stroke away in sixth position.

Sir Bob Charles once again scored under his age with a par round of 71 that put him in 10th equal position.

Round 2 Wrap - Domigan takes the Lead in Dunedin Legends

Wanaka Club Professional Garth Domigan has taken the lead in the City of Dunedin Legends after two of the three rounds. He has today added a second 69 at Balmacewen to his first round of the same number at St Clair yesterday, giving him a one shot lead over Canada’s Ken Tarling.

Tarling backed up his St Clair 68 with a 71 at Balmacewen for his 139 total, while Aussie Paul Dalgleish scored a par 71 to go with his first day 69 from St Clair to hold third placing on 140.

There is a bit of a gap back to a group on 143. These are Australians David Good and Mike Zilko plus Timaru’s rookie Senior Peter Hayes.

Next on 143 are Aussies David Merriman, Peter Fowler and David Hill.

Sir Bob Charles was in his usual cruise mode, par for the day playing the 18th at Balmacewan, but came unstuck when his 6 iron second shot rolled back off the green, from where he chipped and three putted.
The final round on Sunday will be professionals-only, with a two-tee start commen
cing at 9.00am.
