Keir Smith Shoots 69 to Win the Pin High Ontario PGA Assistants' Spring Championship

(Barrie, Ont. - May 30, 2011)
- At Tangle Creek Golf & Country Club, Keir Smith (The National Golf Club of Canada) claimed the 2011 Pin High Ontario PGA Assistants' Spring Championship, finishing first place with a score of 3-under-par 69.

"I am proud to have won the Pin High Ontario PGA Assistants Spring Championship," said Keir Smith. "The course was in good shape considering the wet weather of late and it was nice to play in warm temperatures with no rain gear. I also enjoyed the company of two great guys to play with, Piero and Colin which made the day nice and smooth. I have had success in the past at Tangle Creek so I came into the event hoping to recapture a little magic and things worked out in the end," continued Smith.

"I was very disappointed in how I played in the OPGA Spring event at Galt so I wanted to post a better result and have something to build on for the remainder of the tournament schedule. Making a solid birdie on #18 after a sloppy bogey on the previous hole was satisfying and turned out to be good enough. Many thanks to Rob Mininni and his team at Tangle Creek including the volunteers for their hard work and hospitality," added Smith.

Michael Resciniti
finished in a close second place behind Smith at 2-under-par 70. Tieing for third place were Jerry Hinds (Heritage Hills Golf Club), Gordon Burns (Goldon Ridge Golf Range) and Joe D'Alfonso (The Copper Creek Academy) finishing with 1-under-par 71.

Conrad Riley (Lambton Golf & Country Club) is the latest qualifier for the season ending Bamboomer Long Drive Championship at Angus Glen.

Next up for the Ontario PGA Assistants' Tour is the Ontario PGA Assistants' Summer Championship at Rebel Creek Golf Club.
