Ken Tarling Makes it Through Local US Open Qualifying


(Pickering, Ont., May 21, 2010) - 52 year old Ken Tarling has made it through local qualifying which puts him one step closer to the US Open.Tarling fired a round of 1-under-par 71 which got him into a three-way playoff for two spots. Tarling parred the first hole of the playoff which saw him advance to the sectionals.

"I thrive on the competition," said Tarling after his round. "I have been practicing long and hard for opportunities like this and I am going to make the most of it," added Tarling, who will also try to qualify for the US Senior Open.

Tarling's local qualifier was held at Chambersburg Country Club a 6800 yard track just outside of Pittsburgh, PA. Tarling was joined by fellow Canadian PGA Member Michael Farrugia who unfortunately missed by two shots after triple bogeying his second hole.

Sectional qualifying goes June 7, 2010 at various locations. Tarling will tip it in St. Louis, MO
