- First Individual Win Since 2002 -

(Stouffville, Ont., - October 4, 2010) - Piero Poletto (The Country Club ) fired a 3-under-par 68 to win the 2010 Ontario PGA Fall Championship by three strokes over reigning champion John McCann and two others. Poletto, a teaching professional from The Country Club, last won an individual stroke play event in 2002 at the Ontario PGA Assistants’ Spring Championship.

“It feels really good to get back into the winner’s circle,” said Poletto, who didn’t touch a golf club for a few days following the Canadian PGA Assistants’ Championship last week in Victoria. “It went pretty good today, I saw the putts go in for a change and that was the difference,” added Poletto who takes home just under $2,000 for his win.

Defending champion John McCann (Fairtree), who has battled a nagging wrist injury for the better part of the season, finished in a tie for second with Ontario PGA Match Play runner up Billy Walsh (Beacon Hall) and Keir Smith (The National). All three players maneuvered around the par 71 - 6800 yard Clublink facility at even par.

Other notable scores from Emerald Hills included a 1-over-par 72 for Ontario PGA Champion Ron Kenesky. 2010 Canadain PGA Assistants’ Champion Brian McCann finished one shot back of Kenesky at 73 in a tie for 8th spot.

The 2010 Hunt Trophy was locked up at Emerald Hills with Danny King taking home his second Hunt Trophy in three years. King, who won the Ontario PGA Spring Championship, earned 30 points today which was good enough to clinch the trophy by 11 points over Keir Smith.
