Kerfoot Wins first Shootout Series

5/23/2018

KING, ON - At Carrying Place Golf & C.C. under cloudy skies forty players took to the course for the new one day stroke play series that allows members of various membership categories, age and gender to compete for one purse. The par 70 course played at 6294 yards for the majority of the field while the 60+ professionals played 6059 yards. After all was said and done it was Brad Kerfoot the Associate Professional at Maple Downs Golf & C.C that came out on top at 4-under 66 and beat out Bill Walsh Jr., Danny King and Steve Rodriguez at 2-under 68 who all share 2nd place.

The 2015 PGA Assistants' Championship of Canada winner said "The golf course was in fantastic shape and everyone that played I think really enjoyed the test of golf.  It was nice to see some new faces come out to support the tournament program and with some of new events this year like the Shootout Series, my hope is that it continues to grow and members realize the importance of competition within our profession and the comradery it brings to each event". Kerfoot went on to thank Steve Elliott, Brian Jones and entire staff at Carrying Place for a great day yesterday.

This is Brad's first PGA of Canada - Ontario Zone stoke play win aside from the Wampole event that took place at Wyndance in conjunction with the PGA of Quebec in 2014. Brad came 2nd in the 2017 Spring Open which is the next stop on the Ontario Zone's schedule at Tarandowah Golfers Club on June 4th and 5th.

"I feel that this a great format to get more of the membership out to play in a competitive environment and meet some fellow members that you may not normally come in contact with. Hope the interest continues to grow."

"Our goal with this new stroke play series is to promote participation, comradery, and networking opportunities with a little competition.  It doesn't have to be 6800 yards to be fun and competitive so, we hope to see more members come out and play"

Michael Moniz
PGA of Canada - Ontario Zone
Tournament Captain
