Smooth Sailing for McClure and French at 2017 Pro/Pro Team Series

May 16, 2017
GEORGETOWN, ON -- The start to the 2017 tournament season was dominated by weather early but the skies cleared up on Monday as fifty-four teams from across the zone all gathered in Georgetown, ON at the gorgeous Club at North Halton for the annual Pro/Pro Team Series. As one of the most highly contested events on the schedule, you need to go all the way back to 2008 to find a repeat winner, and back to 2005 to find Bob McClure and Brian French's name on the trophy. The duo were determined to get back to the winners circle and after a smooth round with "no mistakes at all really" they finished on top of the field with an 8-under 64 and their share of the $16,500 purse.
"We had no issues at all out there", Bob McClure said after the round. "We made eight birdies with no bogeys...we made a couple key putts too." The pair, starting the shotgun on hole 7, were 4-under after six holes but knew that wouldn't be enough for the win. "Bob made a twenty-footer on our last hole for birdie," French added. "We felt pretty good about coming into the clubhouse at 8-under."
McClure and French have been playing together in the Pro/Pro for over twenty years and after multiple second and third place finishes and a few lost playoffs in that span, they managed to get their second career Pro/Pro victory this week securing top spot by three shots. Bill Walsh and Chris Bevan (67), Brian McCann and David Banks (68), Bob Panasik and Danny King (68), and Bradlee Ryall and Ryan McBride (68) rounded out the top five.
