Wilson Goes on a Roll to take CHASE54 Futures Championship

GEORGINA, ON - The PGA of Ontario held their forth and final CHASE54 Futures Tour event yesterday at The Briars Golf Club. The CHASE54 Futures Championship was a culmination of a very strong and highly contested season and there were no shortage of fireworks to end the Futures Tour Player of the Year series with a bang.
Alex Wilson (Weston Golf & CC) started quick and rode his early lead through to the finish. "I started the day out with a bogey on the first hole," Wilson said after the round.  "So, I knew I needed to get my act together and start scoring if I wanted a chance at winning."  Wilson did just that by going on a bit of a roll starting on the 4th hole.  Wilson birdied the 480 yard par 5 to start his run and then birdied six of his next seven holes and seven of his next nine.  He looked like he was going to be untouchable until back-to-back bogies brought him back within striking distance.  "Waiting in the clubhouse is the hardest part," Wilson continued, as he was in one of the earlier groups to tee off.  "I wish I could have those two holes back on the back nine.  It would have made the wait a little more bearable."  Wilson's 4-under 67 held on to give him the CHASE54 Futures Championship.  For the win, Wilson will be fully outfitted in CHASE54 gear.  Michael Rizzetto (Monthill Golf & CC) came up just short of Wilson with a 3-under 68.  Dennis Hendershott (high5golf), Eric Pipher (Angus Glen Golf Club), and Chris Bevan rounded out the top five.
