Carrie Vaughan wins Women's Championship

The Ladies were first on to play St. Catharines Golf & CC for the last day of the PGA of Ontario Women’s Championship on Tuesday.  Carrie Vaughan, who held a two-shot lead after round one, remained steady holding onto the lead for the final round.  In her nineteen year career as a Professional this was Vaughan’s first win. At 5-over for the tournament, she showed that persistence and dedication to your craft will always pay off.  “I wasn’t even sure if I was going to be able to play this week,” Vaughan said.  “I needed to move around some lessons that were scheduled for (Tuesday) morning.”  After Vaughan had signed her card and was officially named the TalyorMade adidas Women’s Champion, she was greeted by the same students who rescheduled their lessons.  They made the trip down to watch their coach win her first ever tournament and even had a bucket of water to dump on her head in celebration.  “See ladies,” Vaughan said to her students as they hugged after the huge win.  “Keep working hard and stick with it.  If I can do it you can do it.”  Jennifer Jaszek (South Muskoka Curling and Golf Club) finished in second spot trailing Vaughan by two.
