Wettlaufer wins second Birdie Shootout in a row

BRAMPTON, ON - Turnberry Golf Club is truly one of the cities diamonds in the ruff.  The 3400 yard executive course in Brampton, Ontario is tailor made for the PGA of Ontario Birdie Shootout.  Players battle one another for eighteen holes and their share of the $6,000 purse.  Every birdie is paid and only birdies or better count on the score card.

Dave Wettlaufer, last year’s champion, landed at Turnberry Golf Club looking to defend his title and mentioned after the round, "I love coming to this event.  Not only is it one of the most fun events, the quality of the golf course is second to none.  These are probably some of the best greens I have seen all year, they were tour quality."

The course was set up very difficult and by days end there were 60 birdies paid and Dave Wettlaufer had four of them, which was good enough for him to defend his title.  He narrowly edged the likes of, Brian McCann, Joey Pavone, Joshua Growden, and Ryan Corner who all finished T2 with three birdies a piece.

Host Professional Joey Pavone, although he came up one birdie short of the title, made a splash on the sixth hole dunking it from 145 yards out.  The ace was worth two birdies in this event and was the only hole-in-one on the day.
