Adams Golf to sponsor PGA of Ontario Professional / Junior Championship

For Immediate Release

June 28, 2013

PICKERING, ON - Adams Golf Canada has signed on as the new sponsor for next week's PGA of Ontario Professional / Junior Championship at Wooden Sticks in Uxbridge.

"We are absolutely delighted to welcome Adams Golf Canada as a new partner of the PGA of Ontario and as the title sponsor of the Adams Golf PGA of Ontario Professional / Junior Championship," says Kevin Purcell, Executive Director, PGA of Ontario. "Adams Golf is a great fit for our Pro/Junior event. The PGA of Ontario is excited about this new partnership and growing the Adams Golf brand in Ontario."

A field of 58 two-person teams will tee it up on Tuesday, July 2 at Wooden Sticks as the club provides the course for free in an effort to promote and grow the game, especially at the junior level.

"This is our fourth year affiliated with this event and it will be my first time playing in it," says Wooden Stick Head Professional, Steve Wilson. "We are really looking forward to hosting the juniors and with the close relationship we have with TaylorMade adidas we are thrilled that Adams Golf has come on board as the title sponsor."

TaylorMade adidas Golf, a division of the adidas Group, purchased Adams Golf, maker of the #1 Hybrids on the PGA Tour, in 2013. "Our vision is about making innovative, easy-to-hit products for golfers of all abilities and therefore making the game fun," says Todd Fraser, Brand Director for Adams Golf Canada. "To partner with the PGA of Ontario to introduce Adams Golf products at an exciting championship like this to junior players and golf professionals is a terrific opportunity to increase brand awareness and educate future customers."

In March 2013, Adams Golf Canada created its own national sales force with nine representatives. "We have very aggressive growth plans for the brand globally and definitely a big part of the exponential growth will come out of the Canadian market place. We are a growth company and will spend a lot of focus around the green grass channel," Fraser says. He's expecting to make several major announcements in July when it comes to the brand and new equipment.

Whistle Bear GC Head Professional Chris Wehrle and Associate Professional Adam Tobin opted to bring two of the club's up and coming junior golfers, Andrew Cox and Keaton Jones, as a reward for working on their games. "It's an opportunity for Chris and I to take them away for a fun day of golf and give them a taste of what it's like being a golf professional," Tobin says.

The Pro/Junior Championship is open to all PGA of Ontario zone members or apprentices playing with the junior of their choice. They compete in a team best ball competition, with prizing for Net and Gross Divisions.
