UXBRIDGE, ON - Teams from Credit Valley G&CC and The National Golf Club of Canada earned top honours at the Adams Golf PGA of Ontario Professional / Junior Championship at Wooden Sticks on Tuesday.

With a new event sponsor rescuing the day, the spotlight was on Adams Golf Canada as the company showcased its product line and provided fabulous prizing for the 58 teams that teed it up on what turned out to be a terrific summer afternoon.

"Absolutely thrilled to be part of this championship and to partner with the PGA of Ontario to introduce Adams Golf products to juniors and golf professionals as we prepare to set a new path for the brand in the coming weeks," says Todd Fraser, Brand Director for Adams Golf Canada.

Matt Tindale and amateur Cole Gronwall from Credit Valley Golf &CC won the Gross Division through retrogression after they tied with Tom Arnott and Team Canada Development Member Matt Scobie from Deer Creek GC at 4-under, 68. Chris Wehrle and amateur Keaton Jones from Whistle Bear GC and Sheldon Friske and amateur Nathan Douglas from Thornhill G&CC finished T3 at 3-under.

"This is a great golf course to play. We came up on Friday for a practice round and it paid off," Tindale said who won the Tournament of Champions at Wooden Sticks back in 2002 "Today, we just had each other's back and if one of us didn't play well on a hole the other guy did. We each had three birdies, so it was good team work."

In the Net Division, Kyle Corriveau and amateur Steven Polsinelli from the National Golf Club of Canada squeezed out a one-stroke victory over Tindale and Gronwall, while there was a three-way tie for third at 5-under between Bill Walsh Jr. and amateur Wilson Scott from Fairtree Golf Center, Bob McClure and amateur Cougar Collins from Osprey Valley Resorts and Derek Ten Haaf and amateur Nick Schepens from Firerock GC.

"We had a net eagle, seven birdies and one bogey, so it was a lot of fun out there with some really tough pins," said Polsinelli, who played in the championship for the third time as an amateur and finally won.

Roseland GC Head Professional Randy McQueen and assistant Andrew Laing made it a road trip for their amateur partners Ethan Stewart and Matthew Charron as they travelled to Wooden Sticks from Windsor on the holiday Monday and stayed over in the cabins on the property.

"It was really cool to see the replica holes," Stewart said. "I didn't even know what the road hole was until today."

The Pro/Junior Championship is open to all PGA of Ontario zone members or apprentices playing with the junior of their choice. They compete in a team best ball competition, with prizing for Net and Gross Divisions.
